2013 Year in Review Q&A

It was a lovely surprise to be tagged by the lovely Lou’s Lake Views in this meme, which is a blog review of 2013 (if you’re not a blogger or into blogging you may want to stop reading now!). Kerry at Oh So Amelia started it, and it’s a great way to look back over your year of writing and reading other blogs.

Your top 5 favourite blogs to read in 2013

Honest Mum, who I had the pleasure of meeting at Britmums this year, and her style blog Mummy’s got style – I know that’s two – apologies for the little cheat!

Munchies & Munchkins, who I was lucky enough to spend Britmums weekend with, and who I can’t wait to see again for Britmums 2014.

Bod for tea, who I discovered through a guest post on Honest Mum’s blog!

Hurrah for gin, I can’t remember how I came across her blog, but I’m so glad I found it as it really makes me laugh.

Write like no one’s watching, I love reading this blog, it’s so honest that I feel like I know Charlotte, and despite going through some really tough times recently she somehow seems to have kept a sense of humour.

French children don’t throw food. Really?

Top tips when moving house.

Dear Dad….an open letter.

There’s no tooth fairy in France.

Is the French education system better than the British one?

That’s the first time I’ve looked up these stats – what a surprise! It looks like the French posts are quite the popular ones…

Name one blog you wish you had found sooner

HPMcQ – I am currently co-organising the London leg of the Team Honk Relay with her, and I’ve just discovered her blog, which is great. Although I wish she took more photos….. 😛 Also it doesn’t matter how many times I type her blog name I still can’t remember it!

Your favourite blog post of 2013

This is a really tough one, and I’m going to cheat again and give two as it’s a toss-up between What I’ve learnt from 10 years of marriage and Could you go on holiday without your children? as both of them were a real trip down memory lane as I remembered each year of our marriage for the first one, and all our holidays pre and post children for the second one.

What would you like to improve (if anything) on your blog next year?

There is loads….if I had more time…but for now I’d like to do a bit of a design overhaul, which hopefully Hubs will help me with in the next month or so….watch this space. I’d like to blog more often, host some guest posts (shout if you’d be interested), and set up a weekly post of an interview with a British or a French mum, with each one answering the same questions, to compare how things are done differently in each country.

Name one blog you have a blog crush on

Grenglish (who I also met at Britmums and who I’m also co-organising the London leg of the Team Honk Relay with at the moment). I love her style of writing, I love the humour and I love the honesty. I won’t gush too much as I’ll be seeing her at the weekend to plan #Honkopoly!

How often do you post?

It varies so much, some weeks I’ll post 5 times, then I might go a fortnight with no new posts. I’d say on average once or twice a week, ideally I’d like to up this to an average of 3 times a week.

Share your first post of 2013

It wasn’t until the 1st February as C was born in November 2012 and it took me until then to get back to my blog! So it was all about her arrival:

And then there were 4…

Name one thing you would be doing if you weren’t typing this post right now.

If I weren’t writing a blog post or reading other people’s blog posts right now then I would be reading a book or watching TV. But you don’t get the same blogging community buzz from that….

What have you loved the most about blogging this year?

So much. I started blogging in 2012 but it didn’t really take off until mid-way through 2013, and I then started to discover the wonders of the blogging community which is really quite awe-inspiring. My one main highlight was going to Britmums in June where I met some amazing bloggers who I now have the privilege of calling friends. I couldn’t imagine my life without blogging and without this community now.

I tag the following bloggers:

Hopefully they’ve not been tagged or done this yet:

Munchies & Munchkins

The Mad House of Cats and Babies

Stressy Mummy

Mum of three world

Chelsea Mamma

I had so much fun doing it, what a voyage of discovery it was for me too, as I didn’t have a clue what my most read posts were. I’m definitely doing the French vs English mum thing, in fact it’s nearly ready, just need to get the Team Honk Relay done then I’ll be on the case, will keep you posted.
