Franglaise Mummy does food too

Regular readers of my blog may remember me writing about a blog that Hubs and I were working on to do with food, well I’m delighted to announce that www.FranglaiseCooking.com is now live 🙂

Our food blog is aimed at all parents who ask themselves day in, day out what to cook for themselves, their children and their babies. Franglaise Cooking showcases everyday French and English (and some non Franglaise) food for all the family, the idea being that you cook one family meal which everyone eats (either at the same time or separately as work and lifestyle dictate).

In France we always ate with L as a family, pretty much from when she was weaned as a baby; we would eat altogether, the same food at the same time, and possibly thanks to this L now eats pretty much anything you put in front of her, from radishes, to curry, to artichokes, to olives, to mussels and much more. And yes, as a French child she has also eaten escargots….although it was once she lived in the UK and had befriended many a snail, so she was not impressed at eating them!

Franglaise Cooking aims to make life for parents as simple as possible. Each recipe is tagged with 3 levels across 4 different categories:

  1. Beginner – Intermediate level – Expert
  2. Healthy – Medium healthy – Blow the diet
  3. Cheap – Medium cost – Expensive
  4. Quick – Medium time – Time-consuming

This allows you to see at a glance whether it is a suitable recipe for you or not. All the dishes are ones that we have eaten en famille recently, which usually includes our 1 year old daughter too.

There will be two new sections coming soon – one with slow cooker recipes, as a slow cooker is a saviour for any family, and one called “Cook’s night off” which will showcase beginner recipes so the non-cook of the family can give the cook a night off, I know a fair few friends who will be pointing their husbands in the direction of this!

Hubs and I really hope you like Franglaise Cooking and we would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or recommendations that you might have for us.

I haven’t linked up to The Gallery for ages, but when I saw that this week’s theme was “Food” it would have been rude not to join in. Click on the linky below to see other “Food” photos:

The slow cooker page will be added soon, but for now we’ve got the incredible pulled pork in a slow cooker recipe, and we’ll be adding more slow cooker recipes very soon. The prawns are so good – one of my favourites!

  4. I like that you will have different categories… sometimes people forget to mark how difficult the recipe is… I start cooking… and all goes very wrong…

I wanted to make it as simple as possible to follow, so that everyone, of every level, could find something to suit them. I get lost and scared in recipes sometimes so I wanted to avoid that wherever possible!

I like your method of categorising the menus, that will be very helpful to find a suitable one. Glad you will be doing some slow cooker ones because I’ve started using ours more often.

I wanted it to be something that would help me, so I kept thinking of what I would like to see in a food blog and voilà! The slow cooker page is coming, with recipes on their way – for now there’s just a pulled pork slow cooker recipe, but it’s sooooo good!

  7. That sounds great! We eat together as a family (mainly as I’m too lazy to cook twice) and I’m always in need of new ideas!

We eat as a family every night as well and we all have the same. I think this stopped them being fussy eaters.

I think eating the same food altogether every day really helps them to learn to try different things. The French flan is soooooo good!
