Garden toys from ASDA – a review

We moved back to the UK from France when L was 3 & 1/2, and not having anywhere to live when we first arrived (hello Chez Mum & Dad) we decided to get rid of all of L’s old toys, clothes and baby stuff before leaving France.

This was a fantastic idea as it meant we didn’t have to pay removers, or storage, for toys she no longer played with and clothes she no longer wore. Result! Then just over 2 years later I gave birth to our second daughter and we ended up buying all the toys, clothes and baby stuff all over again. Not so good.

About 4 months ago C discovered the baby slide at our weekly playgroup, and became OBSESSED! So Hubs and I decided it was time to get some garden toys for C to enjoy.

And because the universe was looking kindly on me, that day I got an email from ASDA asking me if I would like to review one of their baby toys – a playhouse and slide. My answer? Hell, yeah!

The beauty of the Smoby Nature Home with Slide is that so far it is loved and used by our 7 & 1/2 year old, our 21 month old and our dog….I keep wondering whether I might find Hubs in there at some point too!

Our girls and our dog enjoying their playhouse

So I hadn’t realised that ASDA did toys (maybe this is what happens when you live in France for 12 years), and had never thought to look there for anything other than food and clothes for the kids. But they have tons of toys for babies and children, from all sorts of brands.

This playhouse and slide are from Smoby, and they are available from ASDA for £175 which I think is really reasonable as they are very solid and great size and quality. We’ve had them in the garden now for 3 months, where they’ve suffered rain and sun (and abuse from our kids, their friends, our dog and 3 cats!) and they are still as good as new – the colour hasn’t faded, the door and shutters are still perfectly in place and the slide doesn’t budge (even when the nearly 8 year old decided to have a go on it).

The girls playing in the house, and the outside of the house from either side.

It’s now got to the stage that the girls can’t go into the garden without wanting to go and play in the house or on the slide.

So would I recommend ASDA for toys and the Smoby Nature Home with Slide in particular? Definitely. It’s not cheap, but it’s certainly value for money, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is something that we’ll keep for years and use over and over again.

You can get the playhouse and slide from ASDA or alternatively you can browse all sorts of other toys from ASDA.

Disclosure: ASDA gifted this Smoby playhouse and slide in exchange for this honest review. As always all words and opinions are my own.

Ooooh exciting! I never thought to look at Asda for stuff like this. Izzi love play houses and whilst we don’t have space at the moment, with her spending 2 days a week at granny’s house with a nice big garden these would be ideal. She already has a diddy slide that she loves and we want to have space for more when we move. Move over Amazon! asda here I come!

I didn’t have a clue either, but I’ll definitely be looking there more in the future. Both girls love both the play house and the slide, even if they’re totally not aimed at a nearly 8 year old!

  2. This looks fab! Curly Girl and Little Man love their play house but we’ve been thinking about getting a bigger slide as ours is fairly small and they both shoot off the end already! Wouldn’t have thought of looking at Asda so thanks for this review x

I know! Who’d have thought of going to Asda for toys online?? They’ve got some great bits and pieces for all ages so I really recommend it, and the girls certainly love their play house and slide 🙂
