Wot so Funee? One on one time.

It’s been nearly 6 months since Baby C joined us and our family of three for the past 6 years went to being a family of four. L has loved having a baby sister and surprisingly has not shown any signs of jealousy having been an only child for 6 years, however I realise she doesn’t get a lot of one on one time with me these days when C is not around.

This last weekend I knew Hubs had things to do in the house on Saturday which meant we wouldn’t be going out as a family, so I thought it would be good to get out with L for a little while during the day. Nothing prepared me for her response to my suggestion though:

Me: As you and me haven’t had much Mummy and L time for a while, how about we go out tomorrow while C is having her long nap?
L: Yeeeessss!!!! Oh no, wait a minute, I’m not sure we should leave C all on her own.

Hubs and I had a good old chuckle over this, and he looked after C while she napped so L and I could go to the local park and do this:

One on one time with L

One on one time with L

I loved this post and I wish I could hang upside down like that – did you manage it? lol really lovely πŸ™‚

    • Franglaise Mummy says:

Thanks. I wish I could hang upside down like that! It’s been many years since I last did πŸ˜‰ But L is a real monkey so climbs and hangs whenever and wherever possible.

  2. Aww, bless her! It’s so special when they think of the little ones and care for them. I’ve had big gaps between some of mine, and it’s really great to see the big ones looking out for the little ones without any word from an adult πŸ™‚

She really is the big sister/little mummy looking out for her baby sister, it’s wonderful πŸ™‚

Aw bless, what a complete sweetie your daughter is. Obviously thinks a great deal of her baby sister.

    • Franglaise Mummy says:

She really does. It’s such a risk having a second child, especially with such a big age gap, but we’ve really fallen on our feet as the two of them adore each other πŸ™‚

  4. What a little sweetheart. How thoughtful of her to think of her baby sister and quite amazing for 6 year-old to think of that – most would be bounding out the door without looking back! x

I know! I think that being an only child for 6 years and so in the company of adults a lot has made her quite grown up.

  5. Cute! I love it when kids think we’ve forgotten something vital like not leaving a baby on their own and think we need reminding, bless them! Lovely that you got to spend some time together too πŸ™‚

Hopping over from Wot So Funee!

    • Franglaise Mummy says:

It does make me wonder what kind of a parent she thinks I am though!! It was so nice to snatch that time together just the two of us πŸ™‚
      Thanks for hopping over!

  6. Very sensible girl – you could learn a lot from her. Fancy going out and leaving a baby all by herself Mummy, what were you thinking?? πŸ˜‰

    • Franglaise Mummy says:

It reassures me that she’ll make a good babysitter in a few years’ time…

  7. Aw that’s cute thinking about her little sister! I love it when they don’t quite get the situation πŸ™‚ Also just come across your blog here – I’m interested as I also studied French (and German) and did research afterwards too, so I’m trying to introduce these languages to my boys young in the hope that they’ll pick some up before school.

    • Franglaise Mummy says:

      It was very cute πŸ™‚
Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my blog. If you’ve got any questions about introducing languages to children just shout.

  8. Oh, how thoughtful – lovely! It does amuse me when they, very seriously, tell us what to do! And how nice to get a bit of one on one time – since no.3 arrived our house my 6yo has been sadly neglected on that front. Popping over from wot so funee!

They are so cute when they get all grown up and serious on us! It’s been 5 months so I felt she was long overdue her one on one time, but that’s easier when there are just two of them – I can’t imagine trying to juggle 3 or more! Thanks for popping by πŸ™‚
