Yet another Cinderella dress

Two weeks ago saw Franglaise Family on a flight, heading to Nice for a good friend’s wedding (more to come on the wedding itself soon). When I got our invitation to the wedding, I racked my brains over what I could wear that would make me feel as good as the last wedding I went to, and the only solution seemed another dress from The Pretty Dress Company, seeing as the last one from them made me feel so amazing, and got me such great compliments.

The style that seems to suit me best is their pencil dress, so this time I went with the Burbank Pencil Dress in purple, as I definitely needed sleeves, despite it being the French Riviera (colder than London, would you believe?). I am terrible at knowing what colour suits me (however I am getting my colours done tomorrow, so watch this space to find out more about that), but purple has always worked quite well for me in the past. I couldn’t have chosen better as I got the exact colour and the exact shade of the wedding 🙂

I just so happened to have a necklace that was the exact same colour and the perfect length to wear with it too.

The great thing is the back is not too low so you can wear a bra with the dress without any bra strap issues.

It was a lovely dress to wear, with non-crease material (always critical when flying to a wedding!), it showed off my figure but was not so tight that I had to wear spanx to suck in the lumps. As with the previous dress I wore from The Pretty Dress Company I would recommend going one size up from your usual size, as this type of dress looks better slightly loose than too tight.

I am somewhere between 5’3″ and 5’4″ and the dress came to just below my knees, so I would say that anyone of about 5’3″ up to about 5’8″ should be able to wear it comfortably (depending on how short you like your dresses to be).

The dress isn’t cheap, but it’s good quality, supports UK industry (dresses are designed and made in the UK) and certainly made me feel incredible (I got tons of lovely compliments again too).

Burbank Pencil Dress in purple: £95 (whilst on the expensive side it is totally worth it)
Purple necklace: 15€ from a shop on the Zone Piétonne in Nice about 5 years ago
Black peep toe shoes: 20€ from a shop in Fontvieille, Monaco 4 years ago

I had a small, black handbag too but can’t seem to find a photo of me with it. Alternatively it looks great accessorised with a sexy, Frenchman 😉

Disclosure: I was loaned this dress from The Pretty Dress Company in exchange for this honest review. I was not paid to write this article and all opinions and words are my own – I loved this dress and got loads of compliments too 🙂

As it’s rare that I have such a lovely outfit to showcase I’m linking up with both What I Wore Wednesday and Fashion Friday, click on the links below to see some other fab outfits.
