Goodbye for now

On Thursday evening I took one look at my out of control to do list (work and personal) and decided to sack it all off on Friday and take Léna and her friend to the beach.

She is now at an age where she can be pretty much left to her own devices, so while the two of them climbed trees, did colouring in and just general beach stuff for 9 and 10 year olds, I sat and read. And looked out to sea. And watched the fishermen in their boats. And switched off. And chilled out.

And it felt incredible.

Goodbye for now: www.FranglaiseMummy.com l Get the Life YOU Love

My view whilst chilling on the beach yesterday.

Whilst doing all this I dipped in and out of social media and a post caught my eye. Someone I follow had decided to switch off from Facebook for 30 days. And as I sat there and read his post the only thought going through my head was “that sounds amazing!”. However this thought was quickly followed by “but I couldn’t do that!”.

But the more I thought about it, the more it sounded like just what I needed.

As much as I love social media and the online world, I find it does burn me out sometimes.

After a great deal of thought (whilst lying on the beach, staring out to see and watching the fishermen) I decided to switch off from all social media for the rest of the school holidays (so for another month or so).

Not only that but I won’t be blogging either.

I will be deleting all social media apps from my phone and my only means of online communication will be email.

I have decided to use this time to read, to write, to spend quality time with my girls and Ben, to work on my businesses and to just be. (In no particular order).

If you miss me desperately in my absence (go on admit it, you’re worried about how you’ll cope without me) you can download my free video guide to decision-making and facing your fears here, or you can scroll through old blog posts (there are 4 years’ worth so that should keep you busy!).

Have a great summer/winter (depending on where you are), live each day to the max and enjoy 🙂

See you in a month’s time,
Sophie xx

  1. Amazing honey – good for you! Completely agree with you – social media is great for so many things (and I couldn’t do without it for my business) but it can be such a distraction. Have an incredible Summer with your beautiful girls and see you in September.
