Speechless for the first time in my life
About 6 months ago I managed to persuade Hubs to set up a food blog with me. You see I couldn’t do it on my own as he is the cook in the family, so whilst I could have fun writing blog posts, and doing the whole social media bit, I needed him to do the actual recipe and cooking bit.
He really wasn’t convinced, thinking it would take up too much time, and asking me who would be interested in reading about the food we cook as a family. Well, in my own inimitable way, I managed to bring him round to my way of thinking, and on 20th January 2014 Franglaise Cooking’s first blog post went live.
From the get-go we got comments, likes and shares, which helped back up my argument that people were interested in everyday French and English food for all the family. Most surprisingly were from people who wouldn’t consider themselves foodies, but who congratulated us on the ease of use and variety of recipes, which meant they actually enjoyed cooking. I even got an email from my 70 year old uncle enthusing about how great the blog was.
Then last week I got an excited text message from the lovely Sarah who blogs at Grenglish, asking if I’d seen the BiBs shortlist. I hadn’t and assumed she was so full of the joys of spring because she’d been shortlisted (she has, in the Writer category, she’s ace, vote for her). But she was also over the moon for me because Hubs and my blog, Franglaise Cooking, had been shortlisted for a BiB in the Food category.
And I was actually speechless for the first time in my life. I know. I am never at a loss for words.
So Hubs and I decided that such a momentous event warranted something big. So we made a vlog about Franglaise Cooking and the BiBs. Here it is:
We’d love it so much if you could vote for us and take us through to the finals. Just click on the link below, put in your name and email address (to avoid multiple votes) and select “Franglaise Cooking” in the 4th section of the form – the Food category. (If you’re not sure who to vote for in the Writer category, I can totally recommend Grenglish, her writing is funny, poignant, beautiful and brilliant.)
Thank you so much everyone 🙂
