What is my guilty pleasure?
This week’s gallery theme on Sticky Fingersย is “Guilty Pleasures” which is very apt as this weekend saw me indulging in one of my biggest guilty pleasures: themed parties, in particular musical themed parties. That’s right, I’m the person you love to hate, as there is nothing I like more than a 70s disco party (last year’s birthday party), or an 80s party (this weekend’s party).
I’m nowhere near trendy when it comes to my music taste, I love cheesy music, and I especially love cheesy music from decades gone by, in particular the 70s and 80s. Couple that with my love of themed dress for parties – what? It totally breaks down the barriers at a party! – and you have my guilty pleasure: a 70s or 80s party with music and dress from that era.
Last Friday night saw us holding a house party to celebrate my birthday (late) and Hubs’ birthday (early). There were about 25 of us and we chatted, drank and danced for about 4 hours before crashing out. Not bad for a bunch of late 30s/early 40s parents! It was soooooo much fun ๐

With Hubs (and dog) before everyone arrived.

My cousin and her fiancรฉ.

With my brother and his fab mullet hair.

The amazing Robert Palmer girls!
There are not many photos as we were too busy dancing to 80s classics and enjoying ourselves to actually stop and document it, but I can assure you it was a fab night and a great guilty pleasure ๐

LOVING the net gloves my dear! Check you out the party girl!
Our 7 year old has also taken a fancy to them – I think they suit her better than me though ๐
Oh, I do love this! Loads of fun!
Thanks! We had a ball! Although probably a bit too much fun as the next day was pretty tough ๐
What a fab guilty pleasure! I love music and dancing, but have never done fancy dress, apart from a single night out dressed as a geek a couple of years back. I must say I found it quite a liberating experience!

I love it so much – people’s covers slip and they let themselves go. It’s funny to see how much more strangers mingle at a fancy dress party than at a “normal” party. We had such a great time that we’re considering repeating it all in a few months’ time.
hope you had a wonderful time, sorry we couldn’t make it. happy birthday x

How completely fabulous! I love 80’s music, and would have been in my element there ๐ Loving the outfits, and the Robert Palmer girls are just fantastic x

The Robert Palmer girls just looked incredible, especially as they came with their very own Robert Palmer ๐
Nothing wrong with a bit of 70s and 80s music in my book! #AllAboutYou
